Chanel Pre-Fall 2014 Looks for Less

Leave it to Chanel (Karl Lagerfeld) to perfectly put a Dallas spin on French fashion. I was quite curious to see what Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2014 collection would look like. Karl Lagerfeld absolutely nailed the Southwestern chic look. The fabrics and colors are stunning!

Unfortunately, I am not going to be running out to buy Chanel in 2014, unless I win the lottery. However, I can be inspired. Check out my favorite Paris-Dallas fashion show outfits and the similar looks for less.

What’s Your Holiday Style?

Traditional

According to River Island’s holiday style quiz, I am a Trendy Traditional kind of girl. I think that sounds pretty accurate (except I don’t think I could wear plaid pants). Find out what your style is by taking this short & fun quiz!

River Island is a UK High Street fashion retailer. They unfortunately do not have any stores in the States, but they do offer international shipping (up to 8 days shipping time to United States). Currently, shipping is free if your order is over $35.

I was browsing their website and this dress caught my eye:

Black & white collared shift dress (River Island $70)

Black & white collared shift dress (River Island $70)

Duchess Catherine first wore Topshop’s Peter Pan collared shift dress when she was pregnant. If you weren’t able to snag the original, but love the prim look of a collared shift dress, then check out Rivers Island’s version. The Duchess paired hers with black tights & suede black heels. You know how some dresses pair better with heels— I think this one would look just as modish with flats.

How to Wear Heels Pain-Free!! {Comfy Tape}

comytape

What shoes do you usually wear to parties? If you are like most women, you probably go for a stunning (but uncomfortable) pair of high heels. After all, pain is beauty, right? What if I told you, you can wear stylish shoes this holiday season without any of the pain?! You can, with Comfy Tape.

Comfy Tape is a silicone gel strip that you place over the area where the discomfort is felt. It’s placed directly onto the skin, not inside your shoe. Unlike other pain relief products, Comfy Tape is super comfortable. You can’t even feel it all!

I have a pair of wedge booties that fit perfectly on one foot, but on the other they are quite uncomfortable. Usually by the end of the day (or more like mid-day) that foot would be in so much pain from the rubbing of the boot up against it. However, with the use of Comfy Tape, I can now wear them all day pain-free! I couldn’t even feel the Comfy Tape! I am so happy I found this product 🙂

Of course Comfy Tape is not just for women or just for high heels. It’s for anyone, for any type of shoe. You can buy Comfy Tape online, or from one of their retail partners ($10 for pack of 8). It looks like they currently are not sold at major stores but hopefully they do soon.

Here is a video that demonstrates how to use Comfy Tape:

An Effortlessly Classy Look {Inspired by Reese Witherspoon}

Effortless Look Inspired by Reese Witherspoon

I wish I looked this sophisticated when I go shopping. Reese Witherspoon was recently seen leaving a Whole Foods wearing this sleek ensemble. Can you image the paparazzi capturing your every move? But then again, she does have the money & stylist to look this good on a casual trip to the grocery store.

As you can see, her polished look can be achieved with just a few basics: skirt, sweater & high heels ( in her case ankle boots). The color scheme Reese is wearing is pretty basic, but you can also achieve this effortlessly classy look with other color combinations. Navy skirt + black sweater, camel skirt + white sweater, burgundy skirt + grey sweater…..

Statement Jewelry for Any Outfit

Statement Jewelry

Besides shoes and purses, I am also addicted to jewelry. I am particularly fond of statement jewelry. You can be wearing jeans & a tee, add a statement necklace or fancy earrings and you instantly look elegant.

I wanted to get my mom some earrings so I decided to check J.C.Penney’s out (I had a $10 off $25 coupon). It’s been what seems like ages since I’ve shopped there. They had a lot of beautiful earrings and necklaces that would make perfects gifts (for yourself or someone else). The best thing is that most of their fashion jewelry is currently on sale (30-40% off).

Of course I was so tempted to get a few pieces for myself! FYI…I want all of the statement jewelry on this post. I was good on my shopping trip and didn’t buy myself anything (but I might go back for the emerald earrings…and maybe the collar necklace). I did find some gorgeous red earrings for my mamá in her favorite color (red) for only $13! Shhh…don’t tell her she’s getting earrings…

Definitively stop by J.C.Penney’s if you are looking for jewelry either for yourself (NYE is coming up) or as a gift for a loved one. Don’t miss out on their sale!

Kate Middleton Style: Edgy Velvet Skinny Pants

Kate Middleton Style: Edgy Velvet Skinny Pants
Light Grey Blazer/Macy’s ($59)
Navy Skinny Cords/ Gap ($60 online, stores $40)/ Similar @ Loft
Wedge booties/ Target ($30)

I was stuck at home all weekend due to Dallas’ Icepocalypse. I finally ventured out yesterday for a few hours. Schools in the area were closed for the day, so the mall was pretty packed for a Monday.

These navy cords caught my eye, they instantly reminded of the Duchess Catherine (aka Kate Middleton). Just recently she was seen wearing velvet skinny pants, Aquatalia wedge booties and a grey Reiss jacket. The Duchess sure makes velvet look good! I am really liking the combination of the colors the most: navy blue, light grey, and black. The jacket has already sold out of course. Not that I would have been able to afford it anyway since it was $450+.

The cords from Gap are obviously not velvet pants but they look-alike. Or at least they do to me. For a similar look to Kate Middleton’s, just pair your navy skinny velvet/cords with a grey jacket, your black booties and voilà!

Kate Middleton Style: Winter White

Kate Middleton Holiday Look

This holiday season opt for the Winter White party outfit! Take inspiration from this lovely gown the Duchess wore recently to the UK premiere of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. She first wore this Roland Mouret gown back in 2012.

I just love how she styled the cream-colored gown this time. It’s a perfect look for the holidays. Just take your favorite cream-colored dress and accessorize it like the Duchess did. Add a statement necklace, classic black heels and a black clutch. So simple, yet such a glamorous look. You can opt for a red lip or a nude lip color like Duchess Catherine did.

If you absolutely love the look of the long, thigh-high slit dress then this one might be for you. Unfortunately, it is not available in a cream color.
