Casual Brunch Outfit

petitefashion

On Sunday, I met up with Keisha from Blush Steel and our friend Joie for brunch. I met both of these girls last year at the Simply Stylist-Dallas conference. We hit it off and have been in touch ever since. We finally were able to meet up at La Duni’s for some good brunch and to talk fashion. Which by the way if you are ever in the big D, make sure to check out La Duni’s because their food is delicious!

When deciding on what to wear, I knew I wanted to wear something comfortable. So I went for a more casual brunch outfit. I am a huge fan of bright colors as you can see from my photos. I picked up this bright pink lightweight sweater a couple of years ago at J. Crew. It’s not a petite-sized top but it fits pretty nicely. I accessorized it with a black & gold necklace I had bought at Forever 21 a few years ago. I have worn this necklace so many times. It instantly glams up any top or dress.

Do you remember the handbag? It’s one of the handbags I told you about in the Cèline Dupes post. I ended up ordering the large structured handbag in basic black. If you are looking for a spacious handbag, this is the one for you!

What do you wear to brunch? Are you more of a dress kind of girl?

About Me

I am a petite girl who is constantly struggling to find clothes and shoes that fit. I am on a quest for elegantly fashionable petite clothes and shoes which fit and flatter my petite frame.

I am an ardent lover of fashion and beauty. I work in a PR company based in London. I started blogging to express my passion and love for fashion. I want to make fashionable clothes and shoes more easily available for petite girls like me. I am a firm believer of using natural and organic beauty products and want to try and use them as much as I can.

I am also founder of #petitechat and Petite Fashion Week. So, if you are a petite girl and share the same feeling, then this blog is for you. Here I will share everything from outfits, shoes, accessories, beauty products, tips on how to look good being a petite girl and my globe trotter adventures being petite. I aim to make this blog a one stop shop for petite girls like me.

Pencil Skirts for Petites

Pencil Skirts for Petites

Ah the pencil skirt-a timeless wardrobe staple. The petite pencil skirt is far from boring with different styles & prints readily available. From your classic office pencil skirt to fun prints such as polka-dots & animal prints. Usually, I am not a huge fan of floral prints, but in pencil skirts I really like them. Perhaps it’s because the pencil skirt has such an elegant look about it that it makes pretty much any print stylish.

What to wear with a petite pencil skirt? For an evening out, perhaps a chic blouse or even a fun t-shirt (maybe The 16th Bar’sPetite is the New Black‘ t-shirt). For work you could wear a nice top or a basic tee with a blazer/cardigan or a lightweight sweater, plus nice necklace. A thin belt looks the best with pencil skirts. Oh and petites, I am sure I don’t have to tell you, but I feel like a pair of nice heels/pumps look the best with these type of skirts.

I have a hot pink pencil skirt that I am really looking forward to wearing more of this year. Once the weather stays warmer, I shall wear it. The weather here in Dallas has been pretty bipolar–a mix of really gorgeous sunny days with cooler rainy days.

Petite Celeb Style: Mila Kunis

Petite Celeb Style

As a petite, I like to look at petite celebs for fashion inspiration. One of my personal faves is Mila Kunis. I find her style casual, simple but quite classy.

If you are not a fan of the LBD, then take a cue from Mila and go with jeans instead. Classy them up with a blazer and nice heels.  As easy as the LBD!

What do you think of this look? Do you have a go-to look for evening outs (besides the trusty LBD)?

Smashbox Try It Kit: Halo + BB {REVIEW}

smashkit

I was debating on whether I should tell you about why I wear minimal makeup (most days no makeup) or about this makeup kit I recently bought. Today let’s talk about the makeup kit by Smashbox, I’ll save my “no makeup” story for next time.

I love buying makeup! I think I just like all the pretty colors & packaging. What usually ends up happening is I wear it once and forget about it. While at Sephora last week, admiring all the pretty makeup, I stumbled upon the Smashbox Try It Kit: Halo+BB. At first, I was hesitant about it because I have a hard time finding the perfect shade for my skin tone. This try it kit comes in: fair, light, light/medium, and dark.

I am so glad I let the beauty consultant (is that what they are called?) put some of the BB cream & Halo on to help determine my shade. The light/medium one fit my skin tone nicely. I went ahead and bought the kit as it came with the primer, halo powder, BB cream, and baby buki brush. The price wasn’t too bad either, $29.

I love the primer, it goes on so smooth! For once, I think I will finish all of the makeup in the kit as I really like it and the portions are small.  I am not a big fan of the caked on look, so this kit was perfect for me. I feel like it gives me a “natural” look but with some coverage.

What I Wore to Petite Fashion Week

I didn’t want to make yesterday’s post too long so today it will be all about the dress I wore to Petite Fashion Week.

Yours truly wore this lovely black & beige dress courtesy of Sheez Petite. Ever since I saw it on the website, I was instantly attracted to it. I am a big fan of the classic look. I only wish my photo did it more justice. I am the worst at taking photos at events. I get so distracted with what is going on that I forget to take photos. So please forgive me as this is the only photo I took of myself at the event. Not my best pose either.

I  received a lot of compliments from the ladies at the event on this dress for petite women. They even mentioned how versatile it looked. This dress can easily go from office to happy hour. I can see myself wearing this dress over and over. I can wear it to work, out with friends, to a wedding, to the conference I am attending in April, to church and so on!  You can create so many different looks with it as well. Wear it with a cardigan or a moto jacket for an edgier look, with pumps, strappy heels or booties, with tights during the winter and of course accessorize it with a variety of necklaces.

For a chic look, I added a necklace that I had bought at Forever 21 a while back.

This dress comes in several colors. Red+Black, Yellow+black, and my fave light brown+black. The best part is that Sheez Petite is currently having a sale going on, 40% off with code PFW40!

Sheez Petite

SHEEZ Petite

Today, I wanted to tell you about Sheez Petite, an online petite boutique specializing in fashions for  women under 5’4″. Sheez Petite was founded by a fellow petite who was frustrated with the lack of trendy fashion options for petites. If you are petite, you know exactly what this means. Just walk into any major department store and check out their “petite” section. Good luck finding anything that you would actually wear. Sheez Petite carries trendy pieces for the modern woman.

The petite fashions found at Sheez Petite are not only stylish, but of high-quality. Which is good to know because no one wants to buy something that you can only wear once. And believe me, you are going to want to wear Sheez Petite fashions more than once!

Here are a few of my favorites from Sheez Petite. Can I tell you secret? I had a such hard time choosing only a few pieces.

Aren’t these dresses gorgeous? The classic look of these dresses make it easy for women to wear regardless of age. They will look just as good on a woman in her 20’s as one in her 60’s.

This lovely white lace top is a favorite at Sheez Petite. I love the animal print blouse. And of course, I am a sucker for cardigans & polka dots. You could easily wear all of these tops for both work & casually. Pair any of these tops with nice slacks or a skirt and a blazer for work. Or with a nice pair of jeans for a more laid-back but polished look.

sheezpetiteblue

I know it’s almost spring, then summer but I am crazy for this blue coat! And I am not the only one. I told my friend about Sheez Petite and she was instantly attracted to this blue coat as well.  The color is gorgeous and the style is so chic.
