Grey Denim for Petites

Grey Denim for Petites

Bonjour! It’s been such a crazy week! Ice Ice and now snow!  I finally have some time to share some of my latest favorite finds.

I had been on the lookout for a great pair of petite-friendly grey jeans for awhile now. I finally bought two pairs recently–one from Banana Republic and the other from Forever 21.

I bought the grey  skinny jeans from Forever 21 because they were only $8. So why not! They are not petite-sized, however they are not super long either. The jeans were just a little long, but I can tuck them in slightly without it being noticeable. I am 4’11 and the amount I had to tuck in wasn’t much but they certainly didn’t look like the model in the photo above without tucking in. However, if you are taller than I, then they might be a better fit for you as far as length goes.

I can’t seem to stop wearing my gray skinny jeans in premium denim from Banana Republic. They look much nicer than the Forever 21 ones and are super comfy. Depending on how petite you are, the petite-sized BR gray jeans might bunch a bit as seen on the model in the photo above. Of course it depends on how you like to wear them or with what shoes you wear them with. I am 4’11, so mine bunched up just a teensy bit. I just tucked them in and they looked perfect. I have been wearing mine more casual with flats.

Grey skinny jeans are currently my go-to jeans since they go great with everything! I can dress them up with black heels or wear them casual with any color top & flats, or with sneakers.

Stay safe & warm out there!

Nude Ballerina Flats for Traveling In Style

Nude Ballerina Flats

In a week, I’ll be in NYC! Last year, I went to NYC for my 30th birthday. This year, a few friends and I are making it a girl’s trip to the Big Apple. I am so excited since this will be our first girl’s trip, post college.

I know we will probably be doing a lot of walking since there is just so much to see and do in NYC. Whenever I am traveling, I am a big fan of wearing ballerina flats over tennis shoes. Sure, they might not be as comfy, but at least you look somewhat stylish.

When I first started wearing ballerina flats, I actually started off with the pointed-toe ones. They seem a bit more elegant to me than the rounded-toe ones. Although nowadays, I wear both kinds. But for my trip to NYC, I really wanted a nice pair of nude flats with a pointed-toe. I ended up buying the Victoria’s Secret pointed-toe ballerina flats in Evening Blush (the ones below the word “ballerina” on the image above; on sale $54). I haven’t worn them yet, but I’ll review them later on.

It’s so easy to shop for nude ballerina flats! They have become so popular that you can find them in any price range. You can find them anywhere from the super pricey Lanvin ($500+) to affordable Forever 21 ($13). I even made it a bit easier for you by starting a collection on Mavatar of Nude Ballerina Flats. 5 Fun Summer Finds {Forever 21}

5 Fun Summer Finds

Forever 21 never disappoints. I took a little bit of time this weekend to hit up the mall. I ended up only making it to Forever 21, but that’s all right since I found some great stuff.

I had been looking for a new pair of pj’s for the summer. I had a lot of trouble deciding since Forever 21 has so many lovely pj sets. I ended up picking this one since I love the colors. These “coffee first” pj’s will surely keep me cool this summer.

On my list of must-find were pieces of clothing that look both professional but will keep me cool during the day. If you remember, I am a real estate agent so I spend a lot of my time out driving around. And it can get pretty hot just from the car to the house that I am showing. Forever 21 has several sleeveless blouses like this one pictured above, that I can wear with  both slacks and skirts. What’s great about them is that if I take care of them, I can wear them even in the fall and winter with a cardigan.

I really like this red dress since it’s really pretty and professional looking. Now, the model makes it look a little more like a dress you would wear on a date but it’s all in how you accessorize it.  Plus, since I am petite this dress  does not look as short on me.

What the French Toast?! I love this tote, not necessarily because of the saying (although–I do love me some french toast!), but because of how it’s built. It has a zipper & inside pockets! It’s lined inside so it’s not just your regular tote. I’ll be using this to carry  my paperwork & iPad as I go from appointment to appointment.

Gorgeous upon gorgeous nail colors! I could not leave without picking up some beautiful nail polish. It was buy 1 get 1 free, so I chose this pretty hibiscus color (that reminds me of Barbie) and lovely teal color.

I was in a bit of hurry so this was all that I picked up on this trip, but I definitively need to stop by again soon.

I hope you are all having a great weekend and have a fabulous week!!

Casual Brunch Outfit

On Sunday, I met up with Keisha from Blush Steel and our friend Joie for brunch. I met both of these girls last year at the Simply Stylist-Dallas conference. We hit it off and have been in touch ever since. We finally were able to meet up at La Duni’s for some good brunch and to talk fashion. Which by the way if you are ever in the big D, make sure to check out La Duni’s because their food is delicious!

When deciding on what to wear, I knew I wanted to wear something comfortable. So I went for a more casual brunch outfit. I am a huge fan of bright colors as you can see from my photos. I picked up this bright pink lightweight sweater a couple of years ago at J. Crew. It’s not a petite-sized top but it fits pretty nicely. I accessorized it with a black & gold necklace I had bought at Forever 21 a few years ago. I have worn this necklace so many times. It instantly glams up any top or dress.

Do you remember the handbag? It’s one of the handbags I told you about in the Cèline Dupes post. I ended up ordering the large structured handbag in basic black. If you are looking for a spacious handbag, this is the one for you!

What do you wear to brunch? Are you more of a dress kind of girl?

Inside My Closet

I am more of a t-shirt and jeans kinda girl–but in heels, I’m almost always in heels.

A lot of my clothes (both work and casual) come from Victoria’s Secret. They have a great selection of clothes that fit my smaller stature and I never have to guess which size will fit me. I have a chest & booty and their clothes fit my curves perfectly while still giving me a shape. I do, however, still have to get many of my pants altered. My ideal ideal pant inseam is 31 inches, and they only have 32+ inches or 30 inch inseams.

I also find great clothes for petites in Target, Express, and Forever 21. No matter what, however, I usually always have to get my clothes tailored so I try to buy items on sale to account for the extra money I will have to use to have the perfect fit.

My Tailoring Advice

If you are short, you need to find a good tailor. And never go into the shop with the pants pre-measured! Grab typical shoes you will wear with the pants/jeans and take them with you so that you can get a more accurate fit. My tailor has me change into the pants/jeans with my shoes on, then pins my pants to my ideal height. I will walk around the shop and sit in her chair to ensure that length is truly perfect (and not just ideal when standing). Invest in a good tailor!

Casual Friday: Skinnies & Polka-Dot Blouse

Casual Friday: Skinnies & Polka-Dot Blouse

It’s Friday, Friday, Friday!!!

Here is what I am wearing for casual Friday: Polka-dot blouse, Skinnies, Greenish-teal cardigan, skinny watch, blue scarf with pink polka-dots & my riding boots. The items in this post are all similar to what I am wearing (I bought my “outfit” last summer), except for the boots for petite women, which are the exact ones I am wearing. The watch I am wearing has an Eiffel Tower, but I really like this one with the glasses as well.

It’s a rainy day in Dallas. This whole week has been pretty dreary. Hopefully, we get some sun soon. It’s not as cold today, but I decided on the scarf since the office can get a bit cold. Plus, with everyone getting sick, I wanted to stay extra warm so that I don’t get a cold (or flu).

Do you have any go-to outfits for casual Friday?

Radiant Orchid Fashion Looks

Radiant Orchid Fashion

Happy New Year lovelies!! How did you ring in the New Year? I spent it traveling. We went on a little road trip to Florida. We had a great time at Saint Augustine beach. Charming little beach town with a lot of history to it.

As you probably have already heard, Radiant Orchid was named the color of the year. I’ll admit, I am not a huge fan of purples but Radiant Orchid is more of a pinkish purple. At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it but the more I look at it…..the more I like it! I think it’s a great color to sprinkle into your outfits. Here are some of my favorite fashion finds in Radiant Orchid.

How do you feel about Radiant Orchid? Do you love it or are you just not sure?

An Effortlessly Classy Look {Inspired by Reese Witherspoon}

Effortless Look Inspired by Reese Witherspoon

I wish I looked this sophisticated when I go shopping. Reese Witherspoon was recently seen leaving a Whole Foods wearing this sleek ensemble. Can you image the paparazzi capturing your every move? But then again, she does have the money & stylist to look this good on a casual trip to the grocery store.

As you can see, her polished look can be achieved with just a few basics: skirt, sweater & high heels ( in her case ankle boots). The color scheme Reese is wearing is pretty basic, but you can also achieve this effortlessly classy look with other color combinations. Navy skirt + black sweater, camel skirt + white sweater, burgundy skirt + grey sweater…..

Fashion Trend: Burgundy

Fall Trend: Burgundy

Burgundy is all over the place right now. I’ve noticed a lot of characters on t.v. wearing it. It’s a fall favorite! Although, I did see a lot of this color in Paris when I was there earlier this year in May.  So I say— it doesn’t have to be “fall” to wear burgundy! In spring & summer, I could see myself wearing burgundy for a dinner date or some fancy soiree. But then again, I am the girl who wears hot pink in the winter…

As sophisticated as burgundy is, there are only certain pieces I could see myself wearing in that color. Pants, skirts and dresses are easy of course.  Tops can be worn with black slacks for work or with jeans for a more casual look. When I saw burgundy in Paris, a lot of it was in the tights the Parisians were wearing with their black dresses & skirts. To accessorize in this fall color, try a scarf, chandelier earrings or a bejeweled bib necklace.

If you are riskier than I, then you could also try other pieces in this color such as a pea coat or a handbag. If I had more money to spend on clothes, then I would probably go for the pea coat.

When combining burgundy with other colors, the following go best with it: black, grey & creams. For example, with a burgundy dress wear a pair of nude heels. Burgundy jeans would look great with a grey top.

Do you have any burgundy pieces in your closet? What are your burgundy favorites?
