5 Fun Summer Finds {Forever 21}

5 Fun Summer Finds

Forever 21 never disappoints. I took a little bit of time this weekend to hit up the mall. I ended up only making it to Forever 21, but that’s all right since I found some great stuff.

I had been looking for a new pair of pj’s for the summer. I had a lot of trouble deciding since Forever 21 has so many lovely pj sets. I ended up picking this one since I love the colors. These “coffee first” pj’s will surely keep me cool this summer.

On my list of must-find were pieces of clothing that look both professional but will keep me cool during the day. If you remember, I am a real estate agent so I spend a lot of my time out driving around. And it can get pretty hot just from the car to the house that I am showing. Forever 21 has several sleeveless blouses like this one pictured above, that I can wear with  both slacks and skirts. What’s great about them is that if I take care of them, I can wear them even in the fall and winter with a cardigan.

I really like this red dress since it’s really pretty and professional looking. Now, the model makes it look a little more like a dress you would wear on a date but it’s all in how you accessorize it.  Plus, since I am petite this dress  does not look as short on me.

What the French Toast?! I love this tote, not necessarily because of the saying (although–I do love me some french toast!), but because of how it’s built. It has a zipper & inside pockets! It’s lined inside so it’s not just your regular tote. I’ll be using this to carry  my paperwork & iPad as I go from appointment to appointment.

Gorgeous upon gorgeous nail colors! I could not leave without picking up some beautiful nail polish. It was buy 1 get 1 free, so I chose this pretty hibiscus color (that reminds me of Barbie) and lovely teal color.

I was in a bit of hurry so this was all that I picked up on this trip, but I definitively need to stop by again soon.

I hope you are all having a great weekend and have a fabulous week!!

Inside My Closet

I am more of a t-shirt and jeans kinda girl–but in heels, I’m almost always in heels.

A lot of my clothes (both work and casual) come from Victoria’s Secret. They have a great selection of clothes that fit my smaller stature and I never have to guess which size will fit me. I have a chest & booty and their clothes fit my curves perfectly while still giving me a shape. I do, however, still have to get many of my pants altered. My ideal ideal pant inseam is 31 inches, and they only have 32+ inches or 30 inch inseams.

I also find great clothes for petites in Target, Express, and Forever 21. No matter what, however, I usually always have to get my clothes tailored so I try to buy items on sale to account for the extra money I will have to use to have the perfect fit.

My Tailoring Advice

If you are short, you need to find a good tailor. And never go into the shop with the pants pre-measured! Grab typical shoes you will wear with the pants/jeans and take them with you so that you can get a more accurate fit. My tailor has me change into the pants/jeans with my shoes on, then pins my pants to my ideal height. I will walk around the shop and sit in her chair to ensure that length is truly perfect (and not just ideal when standing). Invest in a good tailor!

Inside My Closet: Travel

I’m not a t-shirt and tennis shoes type of person, so when I travel I like to dress in style. The difficult part is finding something that’s stylish yet comfortable. I wore this particular outfit on a tour of Pompeii. It was perfect! The jacket was wind resistant and warm, but not stuffy. The sleeves on the jacket are too long due to my height. My solution: roll my sleeves up. I was hesitant about wearing booties on a walking tour, but I’m glad I wore them. I walked around all day and I did not get tired at all. When I took my booties off at the end of the day, my feet felt great. My feet did not have that throbbing pain from walking around all day. I absolutely love Ecco!

Where I Like to Shop

For work attire, I usually shop at Neiman Marcus online. Because I’m 5’3,” I have trouble finding a pantsuit that fits me. The pants are always too long or too short, so I don’t even bother. Instead, I wear high-waisted pencil skirts and sheath dresses. On weekends, I usually wear skinny jeans. I buy regular-sized cropped jeans. They’re cropped for regular-sized people but fit me like regular pants should fit.

“I love being petite.”

Inside My Closet: Work

I am an elementary school teacher and this is a typical outfit that I would wear to work. I think it’s professional enough to wear to parent-teacher conferences, as well as casual enough to wear on the weekends. The scarf is from Kohls Department store. I love wearing infinity scarves because I find they are not too big on my frame. This scarf is my favorite because you can mix and match the pants or the shirt to create completely different looks.

The cardigan(s) is from the Gap. I do not have to shop in the petite section for shirts, so this was found in their clearance section for $9.99. A steal!

My shoes (6 1/2) are from Zara. I am very particular about my shoes. I never wear shoes with heels, pointed, thick soles, or shoes that I think make my feet look too long. These nude flats are perfect. In my opinion, petite women should stick with dainty classic shoes.

And I saved the best for last-PANTS. I have the hardest time finding pants…especially…drum roll please…dress pants. No surprise, right? These pants (4/6) are actually from Target (Mossimo Skinny Fit). My Target does not have a petite section. I can always find these in the Juniors area. I have these pants in a variety of colors. They fit my waist and leg length perfectly. If I ever find a pair that are too long, I tuck them under. I have seen some petite women who cuff their pants. I think this shortens the leg even more and makes you look stubby. Tucking them under gives you a clean straight look. And in my opinion, it can even add one teeny tiny inch to your legs.

Where I Like to Shop

I shop at the Gap, J.Crew, and Target. I have never been to a tailor and I have never purchased petite pants. I find that I can never go wrong with finding ankle pants at these three places. I did have the opportunity to try on a pair of petite pants from Gap that were purchased online & returned to the store, they did not fit my waist or thighs. The length was not the best either. Try shopping at Gap & J. Crew and ask for ankle pants. My tip for shopping at Target would be finding the Skinny Fit or Regular Fit pants and skip the Bootcut.
